North Africa/Middle East

As I’m sure anyone who has the ability to check this blog will know, there are some incredible things going on in North Africa and the Middle East. Tunisia and Egypt are experiencing full-fledged revolutions, though as of now only the former has succeeded in ousting its dictator. Hopefully Mubarak will soon follow. Massive protests have also been held in Jordan, Yemen, and Algeria, but they have not reached the scale of either Tunisia or Egypt.

The best coverage you will find on these events is almost without a doubt Al Jazeera. They have a live feed on their website. Sharif Kouddous, a senior producer at Democracy Now! who is from Egypt, has returned to his native country and has been doing some incredible live tweeting from the streets of Cairo (click here to see his twitter feed).

There has been some looting, particularly Egypt, but I am hoping and praying that this will be a peaceful and democratic revolution for these oppressed peoples.
